With the Layer up Vest sewing pattern you sew a versatile, fully lined kids' vest in sizes 74–158 (9M–13Y) – with a collar, a zipper or snap placket, and an optional hood and in-seam pockets. Depending on the fabric, it can be worn all year round: quilted fabric, softshell, dry oilskin, fleece or corduroy. The illustrated step-by-step instructions are suitable for beginners with basic sewing skills.

🧵 Recommended fabrics
- Outer fabric: softshell, quilted fabric, dry oilskin, rain jacket fabric, fleece, teddy, boiled wool, canvas, corduroy or denim
- Lining: jersey, sweat, fleece, interlock or muslin
- Optional interlining: thermal fleece, batting (e.g. Thermolam, Thinsulate) or thin fleece
- Size tip: the pattern is designed for quilted fabric of normal thickness with a jersey lining. For thicker fabrics or an added interlining, sew 1–2 sizes wider (width only); for thin combinations such as fleece with jersey, sew 1 size narrower.
